We are happy to announce that for this summer season, we now have a stunning and totally renovated upstairs bathroom. The lovely cast-iron, claw foot tub has been completely re-glazed and is now situated under the window. Just imagine lying back in warm scented water, watching the flicker of candles or dimmed lights, enjoying the beauty of the sky with perhaps a glass of wine perched on the windowsill... and feeling your troubles float away!
In those cooler months, the room maintains it's coziness with the beautifully heated tile floor, which I must admit is a delight to walk on. For those of you who don't have time to luxuriate in a tub, there is now a full size marble and glass shower stall equipped with a rain head... the latest of shower comforts!
We have worked hard to maintain the heritage look, and with the bead-board on the walls, the deep cast-iron soaker tub, a pedestal sink and the beautiful solid oak Victorian dresser, I think we have pulled it off.
Our thanks must sincerely go to our contractor Douglas Van Duzer of Van Duzer Painting & Decorating (quality@vanduzerpainting.com) and his workmen, especially George & Zaim. Their quality of work, high standards and attentiveness to detail, made this a wonderful experience for both Brian and myself.
Brenda Pinkus of Interiors by Decorating Den (brendap@decoratingden.com) was a wonderful font of information and ideas. With her experience she was able to guide me through the decision-making of accessories, design and colours. A greatful thanks to Brenda.
I'm sure the owners of this delightful cottage, back in 1860, certainly didn't enjoy such luxury .... so it's yours! Come and indulge!
